Digital Technology Pathway
A brand new exciting pathway offering a course like no other, looking forward to the future of digital technology…
Why choose a digital technology specialism?
In the academic article Skill Shift, Automation and the Future of the Workforce (McKinsey and Company, 2018) the research identifies that as more businesses begin to use automation and AI there will be a “surge in demand for basic digital skills as well as the more advanced technological skills such as programming”. By 2030 it is predicted that there will be a 65% increase in working hours centred around digital skill and a 92% increase in advanced IT skills/programming
“The entire UK workforce will be impacted by digital technology, causing every role to evolve over time, which may take the form of new tools, software or ways of working” (Deloitte, 2020). Competition in these job areas will also increase and therefore this pathway has been designed to meet the needs of these industries.
The Digital Technology curriculum provides a high-quality computing education which equips students to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. Students leave as confident digital citizens equipped with the skills and knowledge to fully embrace a future of ever changing technology enabling them to live and work within a digital world.
