South Devon UTC were delighted to receive Dental professionals from the Peninsula Dental School from the University of Plymouth to deliver an introductory session on dental hygiene, dental training and general dentistry to our Health and Social Science students.
The Year 10 and 12 students took part in a lecture as well the opportunity to experience some of the specialist training equipment used to train dentists, dental nurses and dental hygienists.
The students who took part were all awarded “Oral Health Champion Training” certificates and look forward to the lecturers from Peninsula Dental School returning in the near future to complete a practical workshop on infection, prevention and control.
Lisa Griffiths, Clinical Educator at the Peninsula Dental Hospital said, ‘We were delighted to present to the South Devon UTC Health and Social Care Science students, who were very engaging and asked lots of challenging questions. We are looking forward to seeing them all for the next session after Easter and think that some students may wish to be the Dental Professionals of the future! ’
